DETAILED PROGRAM

DAY 1: DAKAR – LITTLE COAST (About 80km/01h30)
Arrival in Dakar and assistance by our team and transfer to the small coast. Check in and overnight in  Royam hotel .

DAY 2: NGUERIGNE TRADITIONNAL VILLAGE – LITTLE COAST (About 22km/30mn)
Transfer in horse carriage to Nguerigne village.
Full morning with the villagers and initiation to their day to day, participation to jembe’s workshop.
Traditional lunch in Nguerigne, under mango trees.
In the afternoon, visit of Mbour market and arrival of the fishermen on the beach.
Continuation to Saly, dinner and overnight in  Royam hotel.

DAY 3: LITTLE COAST – JOAL FADIOUTH – LITTLE COAST (About 70km/01h30)
Road to Joal home town of the first President of Senegal Leopold Sedar Senghor. Crossing by a wooden bridge to join Fadiouth Island.  Visit of Fadiouth shellfish Island by pirogue and by foot: the cemetery where Muslins and Christians are buried side by side and the church.
Lunch in “Taverne du pêcheur restaurant” just across the street from the Shellfish Island. Drive through the palm trees forest, baobabs and crossing small charming “Serere” villages with traditional huts and stretched dried lands called Tanns.
Back to Saly in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Royam hotel.

DAY 4: LITTLE COAST- BANDIA RESERVE – PINK LAKE (About 78km/01h30)
Leave for Bandia , located in a magnificient protected  forest of baobab trees. The Bandia reserve has an ambitious project to reintroduce species that have left the Sahel. Safari with African fauna guide in the National Forest of Bandia (500 hectares of baobabs and acacia).Observation of: giraffes, zebras, rhinoceroses, warthogs, antelopes, buffaloes, monkeys…. Lunch in the reserve restaurant overlooking the water reservoir.
Continuation to Pink Lake, dinner and overnight in Trarza hotel by the lake.

DAY 5: PINK LAKE- TURTLES’S VILLAGE- LOUMPOUL DESERT (About 163km/02h40)
Discover the lake, a village Peul around the lake, and the women salt haversters, swim in the salted lake and  rince out in the sweet waters under banana trees  shadows. Continuation to the botanic Reserve of Noflaye; a protection center of the biggest tortoises  in the world, fading nearly out in Senegal. After a traditional lunch, road through the luxurious vegetation of the Niayes, vegetable – growing purposes area.  Arrive in dunes by sunset and check in the lodge surrounded by orange colored sand dunes.
Dinner and overnight under Mauritanian tents in  Lompoul Ecolodge.

DAY 6 : LOUMPOUL – RAO – LANGUE DE BARBARIE (About 160km/02h40)
In the morning, camel ride o pedestrian walk in the dunes. Road to Guelakh farm. Drive north through the vast stretches savanas planted with acacia trees all the way down to the first rice fields of the delta of the river Senegal, in the region of Saint louis. Meeting with the coordinator of this project whose aim is to stop the rural exodus of the young people in the region training them to learn a useful trade…Beside cattle reeding and farming, this project also trains: weaving , tie and dye,(batik technics), goat cheese manufacturing etc… Lunch in Guelakh farm and continuation to “Langue de Barbarie”.
Check in, dinner and overnight in Ocean et Savane Lodge.

DAY 7 : LANGUE DE BARBARIE – ST LOUIS – LANGUE DE BARBARIE (About 60km/01h)
After breakfast, visit of Guembeul reserve:  antelopes, warthogs, oryx, red monkeys. Road to Saint Louis for lunch in Galaxie Restaurant.
In the afternoon, traditional horse carriage to visit the historical colonial district listed among the UNESCO world heritage: Faidherbe Bridge, the old colonial’s houses, the city hall, the cathedral, the Aerospostale museum and the fishermen’s quarter of Guet Ndar with multicoloured dugouts. Back to “Langue de Barbarie”. Dinner and overnight to Ocean et Savane Lodge.

DAY 8 : LANGUE DE BARBARIE – DAKAR (About 260km/04h30)
At leisure between along a beautiful  lagoon, close to ocean.
Traditionnal fishing.
Lunch in the lodge and road back to Dakar.
